Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of ID do I need to provide? You must provide ONE of the following:
- A passport, driver’s license or government-issued nondriver identification card, which is current and unexpired. OR
- Another form of government identification, which:
- is current;
- contains the signature or a photograph of the individual; and
- is satisfactory to the notary public.
If you do not have ID that meets either of the above requirements, a credible witness (someone who knows you) can sign a Credible Witness Affidavit to confirm your identity. The cost for the Credible Witness Affidavit is $5.
Can I sign the document before the notary arrives to save time? No. The signature must be witnessed by the notary.
Why don’t you provide a embossed/raised seal when notarizing documents? Pennsylvania no longer requires that notaries use an embosser.
If you need notary service, schedule a mobile notary appointment.
